Amid continued geopolitical shocks, and following years of disruption owing to the pandemic and subsequent supply constraints, central bankers are learning to live with constant surprises, Central Banking’s Summer Meetings heard today (June 11).

Heads of economics and monetary policy from several European central banks came together to discuss how to set interest rates when the outlook remained highly uncertain and global policy could shift overnight.
