Governor announces five-step campaign to counteract increasing prevalence of scams

The Central Bank of Hungary (MNB) is renewing its efforts to tackle online scams.

In a video uploaded to its social media channels yesterday (June 2), the governor Mihály Varga outlined a five-step campaign to fight financial fraud.

The first step would involve the launch in July of a “centralised scam detection system”. Varga said this would use artificial intelligence to examine interbank transfers “in a matter of milliseconds” before the funds had customers’ accounts.
